My NPE Experience on the DNA Surprises Podcast

Posted on March 25, 2025March 25, 2025 by Melissa Willis

If you have experienced an NPE event, I imagine you know how earth-shaking it can be to have the very fabric of your being ripped apart and woven back together into a 3-D tapestry with brand new threads.

Had you asked me in 2019 if I thought I might talk about the whole experience on a podcast, I might have laughed out loud because how could I explain my DNA surprise to anyone else? How could I share my NPE experience with complete strangers? How might I ever be whole enough again to communicate about the gaping hole in my being?

Well, fast forward through time and space, grieving and healing, and here we are.

Thank goodness.

And thanks to Alexis for holding a safe space for such deep truths.

And guess what? In just a few short days, my wonderful Surprise Sister is spending her Spring Break here!

Life, in its ever-unfolding wonder, never ceases to amaze me.

Onward,

Melis
