If you’ve been around for a while, you might notice that the site looks a bit different today than it did last week! That’s because, after two years of genealogy blogging on Squarespace and micro-blogging on Instagram, I’ve decided to switch it up and move to WordPress.
Why is that? Well, while Squarespace offered an easy set up and great sales platform for my B+Q shirts and mugs, the comment platform wasn’t as easy to navigate as I’d like it to be and I was ready for a change. I would prefer to participate in a community of family historian bloggers rather than rely on social media. WordPress offers a more diverse range of opportunities in which to build such relationships so I want to invest my time here.
Additionally, I’ve stopped posting to Instagram as a tiny protest against the Broligarchy and the dangerous policy changes that Meta has put into place across its platforms.
This new site is still a bit dusty from the switchover so I’ll spend a little time cleaning up the glitches in the transfer. I’m also not quite sure I love the theme, but I’m excited for a fresh beginning and will assess themes later.
Once all the dust has been dusted I’ll begin to add back in the B+Q storefront with all your favorite tees and mugs. One must be comfy while spending hours upon hours researching and documenting 😉
One step at a time, ya know?
Anyhow, I’m happy to be here and so happy you’re here with me.
Cheers to change 🙂
Onward,
Melis
