Isaac C. Graves – Civil War Pension File (Request)

A little over a year ago, much to my delight, I requested and received my very first Civil War Pension File. At well over 400 pages, the record blew my mind and offered several insights into John Patrick Brogan‘s Irish origins and USA experiences during and after the Civil War.

Looking only one generation back, John’s father-in-law, Isaac Coplin Graves, also served on the Union side during the Civil War.

Unfortunately, I do not have as much documentation for Isaac as I did for John, so I’m a little more trepidatious about this request, with only the following information.

• Regiment(s) or State(s) served in: Private, 97th Regiment, Company C, Indiana Infantry, 1862-1864 (Civil War Union)
• B: 23 May 1831 in North Carolina, US
• D: 9 April 1910 in Monroe County, Indiana, USA
• M: 25 October 1856 to Mary Ann Walker
• Parents: William B. Graves and Elizabeth (Unknown)
• Children include: Martha Alice, Richard, Francis, Arminda, Nancy Melissa, Evan Elijah

I was able to track down two Pension Cards for Isaac, and one for his Widow, Mary Ann. All three were submitted with my request so I remain hopeful.

I’m using Gopher Records again as I was pleased with their policies, prices, and the files they found.

The site states I should have my order by July 18th.

My Graves line (Gen 069) has remained a bit of an enigma to me so I’d love to see what might be uncovered or alluded to in Isaac’s files.
